1) SCHOOL'S ATHLETIC TRAINER
According to nata.com/athletic-training, "To become certified athletic trainers, students must graduate with bachelors or masters degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program and pass a comprehensive test administered by the Board of Certification." Average salary ranges from 35,000 to 75,000 annually. An AT is important to a full recovery of the athlete because they are usually the first responder to the even at which the injury occurs and they will progress through to rehabilitation with the athlete. |
2) PHYSICAL THERAPIST
In order to practice physical therapy, the doctor must have a doctorate in physical therapy and master of physical therapy or master of science of physical therapy. The average salary is around 80,000 dollars. The physical therapist is a critical team member because they will be helping the athlete to get back onto the field, if not to help them regain walking abilities if needed. |
4) Paramedic
Paramedic's are going to be the first responders to the incident along with the athletic trainer. Average salary is around 35,000-45,000. A paramedic must be certified to perform ALS or advanced life support. They also have to be able to administer IV fluids, injections, medications and performing advanced respiratory procedures. They also have to be able to deliver babies, help wounds, CPR, basic first aid, etc.In order to become an paramedic you would have to do between 120-130 hours of training. |
5) Orthopedic Doctor
If the injury is severe enough, the athlete may need surgery to repair the area. An orthopaedic doctor is a surgeon who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of bone and skeleton-related problems. Average pay is between 189,000-519,000. Schooling to become an orthopedic surgeon/physician includes; undergraduate education (4 years), medical college admission test (1 day), medical school applications, medical school (4 years), National Board Exams (3 days), Match Day (1 day), Internship (1 year), Residency (4 years) and Fellowship (1 year). |
